Kate has worked in the community services sector for over 21 years, entering the industry as a support worker and home and personal carer. She gained her training and assessing qualifications 16 years ago and has worked for several RTO’s. She was Project Officer for Kentish Regional Clinic, while also delivering the CORES Suicide Intervention and Intervention Training. He role as Diversional Therapist in Residential Aged Care focused on the emotional and psychosocial wellbeing of residents and her 4 years in an assessment and coordinator role for Veteran’s Home Care once again bought loss and grief to the forefront. A civil celebrant for 12 years Kate continues to work closely with families through their time of loss and grief in the delivery of her funeral ceremonies. Her current role of Workforce & Industry Development Officer for ACSA enables her to continue her passion for training and self-directed learning. She strongly believes that learning should be relevant, personal and fun and engaging.

Together we will foster a safe, non-judgemental space to share your thoughts and feelings, challenges and changes in the sector, negative and positive experiences, coping skills and strategies. 


Your insights and expertise in the sector will help to inform the discussion around:

  • Loss and grief (does our role make us more vulnerable?)
  • Boundaries and limitations
  • Risk factors and reactions to loss and grief
  • Self-awareness and self care strategies
  • We will be actively pursuing suggestions on how to create a positive workplace environment to support staff in managing loss and grief. (What works for you and or Organisation)


Learning Outcomes:

  • A better understanding of the experiences, risks and impacts associated with loss and grief in the workplace.
  • Strategies for maintaining physical and emotional well-being
  • How to create and maintain a positive workplace environment to support staff in managing loss and grief.
