Sharon Tentye is Executive Manager Service Delivery at Carers SA. Sharon has over 20 years of experience in the Community Sector in Leadership roles in metropolitan, regional and remote locations across South Australia and the Northern Territory. She is passionate about working in the community sector and contributing to areas that will make a real difference in peoples lives. Sharon believes leadership starts with relationships and is committed to, excellent relationships with stakeholders, consumers, clients and staff.
Change is a constant in our evolving society and Sharon is committed to being involved, providing guidance to teams and being an active change agent.

Michael Cousins is Community Engagement Manager at Carers SA. With a focus on public health, quality improvement, and community engagement, Michael has over twenty years’ experience in human services. Michael has held various positions in the public and not for profit sectors, including with the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, Health Consumers Alliance of SA, Quality Management Services, and Relationships Australia SA. Michael is the Chair of the NPS MedicineWise Consumer Advisory Group.

Being Curious is a series of presentations from local SA and national initiatives who are curious about enhancing the lives of diverse populations in the community. This series will engage the listener with projects that will encourage you to get more curious. Once your curiosity is sparked, it will kindle further action to engage with these projects, connect older people from your service to them or even ignite your own ventures.

This is an opportunity to find out more about grass roots ideas which aim to impact the lives of marginalised or vulnerable people by strengthening their capacities physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

 

Wednesday 18 November: Carers Understanding the Gateway; Carers SA

Carers SA provides support to unpaid carers across South Australia.
From April 2020, under the Government’s new carer support model, Carers SA has become the main provider of services for South Australia’s 250,000 unpaid carers.
With 30 years of experience, Carers SA provides unpaid carers with a range of support services including carer support planning, emergency respite, peer support and coaching, in-person counselling and tailored financial packages.
Carers are at the heart of everything we do.
We want carers contribution to be valued and their voice to be heard.

 

Outcomes of session:

  • Understand the role of Carers SA and the work they do in Supporting South Australian
  • Gain an understanding about the New Carer Support Model including the Gateway

 

Target Audience

Service Providers who provide direct supports and through these interactions have contact with Carers.

  • Aged Services
  • Disability Services
  • Health Services.
