Beyond the Standards
August 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm$20 – $140
The New Aged Care Quality Standards came into effect from July 1, 2019.
Good care is not about ‘ticking boxes’: It’s about the response and approach a service and it’s workforce take in every exchange with the older person to meet their individual needs.
This informative and engaging workshop will take participants through a range of activities and small group discussions to explore the New Aged Care Quality Standards 1-8 in relation to an older person’s life. What makes a difference to good care?
- Standard #1 comprises of seven elements and requires the worker to understand what makes up the life of an older person. This includes standing in the shoes of the older person to reflect on themes of identity, diversity, risk, safety and choice.
- Standards 2-8 will be covered briefly as compliance of these is primarily covered by the organisational requirements. All strategies will offer the worker an opportunity to see the standard from the older person’s perspective and understand what might be needed to actually reflect on the consumer statement.
Ideally suited for anyone who is developing their everyday practice and language to focus on wellness outcomes for the older person.
The new Aged Care Standards and Charter of Rights and the principles of Wellness & Reablement form the basis of the session. Participants will receive a workbook with resources and references included.
