Trainer Short Bio

Anna Millicer has worked in community aged care for 30 years, primarily working in home care management, advocacy, research, best-practice service design and project management. Anna has worked within both consumer and provider peak bodies and brings that unique perspective to the table.
As an experienced presenter and facilitator, Anna brings a refreshing style to her presentations which blends extensive knowledge about the aged care reforms from a provider and consumer perspective, with a deep understanding of the operational and practice level requirements for success. Anna is known for her relatable approach which is designed to engage and build the capacity of participants.
Following a decade of research and project work to design, implement and evaluate the practical and operational aspects of home care service models, Anna now supports home care providers to develop innovative engagement strategies, home care program design and evaluation, and quality audit preparation. As an incumbent home care board Director, Anna understands the challenges of small providers in navigating the reforms whilst balancing governance obligations.

Diane Herr is a Registered Nurse with over 40 years’ experience, 24 of them in Aged Care, with several years in Management roles. Diane has 14 years’ experience as a Residential Aged Care Consultant, the last ten years with ACSA. Diane’s has extensive knowledge and experience in assisting Services to achieve and maintain compliance against the Quality Standards, including conducting reviews, developing bespoke training, assistance with development of Quality systems, mentoring and building capacity, as well as assisting with ACQSC responses. Diane has also previously been involved in Board training as well as Strategic Planning.

ACSA has listened to feedback that smaller providers and Boards want more tailored support which reflects their governance structures and operational challenges.

Held over two convenient evening sessions, the governance workshop series is designed specifically for boards and executive management staff of smaller aged care providers delivering support to older Australians, including those in regional and remote locations.

The aim of this series of workshops is to support providers to position themselves for reform, by exploring legal responsibilities, risk management, clinical governance, informed decision making, consumer experiences, strategic business models and to build capacity and navigate the unique challenges faced by small regional and remote providers.

The workshops will engage organisational boards and the management of small providers in understanding, preparing for, and acting on the requirements of the Aged Care Quality Standards and proposed regulations under the new Aged Care Act.

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • A practical approach to understanding the interface between frontline service delivery and back-of-house organisational governance
  • Access to tools and resources to confidently plan for change and build your knowledge of organisational governance requirements under the Aged Care Quality Standards
  • Learn how to use consumer feedback to inform continuous improvement at all levels of your organisation
  • Understand the impacts of future reforms on governance requirements in your organisation
  • Learn adaptive service design concepts to stay ahead of Government reforms and prepare for change

Tickets are 1 per person. A Reminder email will be sent to registered participants 1-2 days prior to the session including the zoom link and any handouts.
Please note that an essential requirement is that all participants gain access to a PC and/or iPad or mobile device, and use a headphone set, although they do not need to be in the same location. Training rooms without personal headphones can result in feedback which may impede training delivery and reduce participant enjoyment. Headphones do not need to be expensive units, and many people have their own personal headphones /mic that they use with their smart phones, which will be suitable plugged into the computer unit if this is your choice of set up,
