This unique workshop content will review current understanding of dementia and focus on the experience of people living with dementia.  We will focus on some ways workers can improve the quality of life for the person through community engagement, person centred approaches and preventive strategies.  Problem solving strategies, for times when something doesn’t go well, will be offered for use with team members and family carers.  This workshop is about building relationships and strengthening practices to support people to live well with dementia.

Learners will have an opportunity to;

  • Develop an understanding of how to improve quality of life for people living with dementia
  • Identify ways to connect with the person and get to know them
  • Learn new strategies to prevent stress and reduce reactions to stressors
