With over thirty-years in aged-care Julie Dunne beings a wealth of experience to sector. Julie’s background in community, home-care and residential services includes: diversional therapy; case management; TAFE facilitation; carer support coordination and chaplaincy management.
Julie brings her passion for lifelong learning to her workshops with a focus on sharing practical skills to support others to implement leading practice in aged-care. Julie’s commitment to work alongside older Australians to enable each person to maintain their independence and optimise their health, well-being and quality of life underpins her teaching.
Currently Julie works in the Workforce and Industry Development team at ACSA.

This interactive workshop uses wellness and reablement approaches to explore the delivery of leisure and lifestyle programs. Leisure, wellness and reablement: Getting the Foundations Right is designed to support personal care/support workers (including volunteers) to better interact and support the older people in community and/or home settings. This workshop explores the fundamental approaches and policy frameworks that underpin leisure, wellness and reablement for the older person.  

 

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand how to apply wellness and reablement to leisure and lifestyle.
  2. Documentation what is done and who does it.
  3. Understand key approaches and activities to support an older persons health and well-being.

 

Target Audience: The personal care/support workforce – including volunteers who support the older person with leisure and wellness activities plus care-coordinators.

Tickets are 1 per person. A Reminder email will be sent to registered participants 1-2 days prior to the session including the zoom link and any handouts.
Please note that an essential requirement is that all participants gain access to a PC and/or iPad or mobile device, and use a headphone set, although they do not need to be in the same location. Training rooms without personal headphones can result in feedback which may impede training delivery and reduce participant enjoyment. Headphones do not need to be expensive units, and many people have their own personal headphones /mic that they use with their smart phones, which will be suitable plugged into the computer unit if this is your choice of set up,
