Trainer Short Bio
A qualified trainer, Dana works in developing learning opportunities focussed on values training, which is individualised and challenges traditional thinking. This includes a range of concepts and frameworks. The key goal of Dana’s work is to facilitate conversations to inspire better practices regarding quality issues, focusing on the older person’s desire for living their best life and recovering from adversity. Dana has experience in the development and provision of community based services for older people, people living with dementia and their families. She has worked in the Mental Health sector, focusing her work on carers supporting a family member living with mental health issues. A lifelong learner Dana has filled a number of roles as a social scientist, health counsellor, manager, mother, artist and adventurer.

Difficult conversations cannot always be avoided when we are working in the human services. Therefore it is important that we know how to manage these conversations in positive ways. This workshop offers a range of practical strategies to manage difficult conversations using varied methods, positive intent and good processes.

Participants will:

  • Gain insight into 3 types of conversations and the effectiveness to turn difficult encounters into constructive conversations.
  • Explore the importance of self-awareness and empathy when navigating tricky conversations.
  • Identify strategies that can shift difficult conversations into meaningful communication.

Registered participants will receive the Zoom link prior to the event.
