
Mental Health Awareness & the Older person: A series dealing with Anxiety

$20 – $250Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) in partnership with Mental Health & Well-being Training Solutions has developed a series of 1 and/or 1.5 hour non-clinical webinars specifically relating to Mental Health of the older people receiving Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) services in their home. The webinars will focus on raising awareness and providing education ad training in understanding a variety of Mental Health conditions being experienced by older people and the impact these conditions may have on care and service delivery in the older person’s home.
Participants will be informed about how to support, respond and communicate with clients in distress. There will be opportunity for participants to ask questions and discuss experiences through the Zoom ‘chat’ function.
The following sessions are a series dealing with anxiety

11th March 2.00pm – 3.00pm: Anxiety in Older People – 1hr
Anxiety is the most common mental illness in older people. Learn about the signs and symptoms of anxiety and why older people are more vulnerable to the onset of anxiety.
18th March 1.30pm – 3.00pm: Supporting an Older Person with Anxiety followed by a Q&A session – 1.5hrs
Learn how to effectively respond to and support an older person who is experiencing anxiety.
The second half of this session is a Q&A session for CHSP workers and volunteers who are supporting older people living with anxiety.
Target Group: Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) team leaders/ supervisors/ coordinators, aged care workers and volunteers are encouraged to register
