Trainer Short Bio

Robyn is an independent training provider for 'Mental Health & Wellbeing Training Solutions' and has over 15 years’ experience in the mental health sector.
She is an accredited ‘Master Instructor’ with Mental Health First Aid Australia, is a facilitator/teacher with TAFE SA for the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work qualification and has a special interest in the mental health of Older Australians.
Previously employed in education, training and peer roles, Robyn is a passionate trainer and advocate for positive mental health, and for recovery from mental illness.
Her extensive experience in the government and non-government mental health sectors, and her lived experience provides ‘value added mental health training with a difference’ that is continually acknowledged through customer and trainee feedback.

Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) in partnership with Mental Health & Well-being Training Solutions has developed a series of 1 and/or 1.5 hour non-clinical webinars specifically relating to Mental Health of the older people receiving Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) services in their home. The webinars will focus on raising awareness and providing education ad training in understanding a variety of Mental Health conditions being experienced by older people and the impact these conditions may have on care and service delivery in the older person’s home.

Participants will be informed about how to support, respond and communicate with clients in distress. There will be opportunity for participants to ask questions and discuss experiences through the Zoom ‘chat’ function.

 

The following sessions are a series dealing with Psychotic Disorders

Please Note: Registration is for all of the following sessions and session times may vary.

 

12th November 1.00pm – 2.00pm: Psychotic Disorders in Older People

An overview of the most common psychotic disorders including schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Psychosis & Delirium, and the signs & symptoms and how they present in older people.

 

18th November 10.00am – 11:30am: Schizophrenia & Bipolar Disorder in Older People

Learn about an older person’s experience of living with Schizophrenia or Bipolar Disorder, and the impact and challenges in providing effective service delivery.

 

25th November 10.00am – 12.00pm: The Lived Experience of Bipolar Disorder from an Older Person’s Perspective followed by a Q&A session

A unique learning opportunity to engage with 71-year-old Peter who shares his experience of living with Bipolar Disorder and the concerns and challenges an older person experiences.

The second half of this session is a Q&A session for CHSP workers and volunteers who are supporting an older person living with a psychotic disorder.

 

Target Group:

Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) team leaders/ supervisors/ coordinators, aged care workers and volunteers are encouraged to register

 

Registered participants will receive the Zoom link 1-2 days prior to the event.
