Trainer Short Bio

Bernadette Durrell has direct industry experience, including being a Village Manager of 145-unit village. She has held training and lecturing roles with Alzheimer’s Australia and TAFE delivering the Diploma of Nursing and Certificate IV in Preparation for Nursing], worked as a Regional Manager for Silver Chain [WA], a Director of Nursing and holds a Bachelor of Science [Nursing] and Masters of Business Leadership. She has mentored nursing and radiography students for Curtin University [Perth].

Bronwyn Doyle is an experienced Nurse/Midwifery Unit Manager and Project Manager leading large teams and various projects. She hold a Masters in Midwifery, Diploma of Frontline Management and Graduate Certificate in Health Management. She has extensive experience in the hospital, university, and community sector. Bronwyn worked for Qld Health for 25 years in middle management and executive positions, she then moved to the University of the Sunshine Coast where she was responsible for the clinical placement component of the undergraduate nurse’s program for 13 years. Bronwyn took a year’s sabbatical and worked in general practice nursing where she was the Lead Nurse and set up a Respiratory Clinic, Covid Immunisation Clinic and introduced a new model of nursing care. Bronwyn leads the Graduate Nurse Transition to Practice Program on behalf of ACSA and aims to deliver the program nationally by the end of 2022.

This 3hr interactive workshop has been developed to support both existing Registered Nurses (RN) and Endorsed Enrolled Nurses (EEN) within aged care service settings, newly graduated RNs and EENs who are new to the Aged Services sector, and RNs who may be placed within facilities, under Australian Government Skills Migration arrangements.   At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the relationship between the Aged Care Act and Quality Standards to the delivery of person-centred care to older persons.
  • Understand the application of assessment, care planning, and documentation principles relevant to Standards 1, 2, and 3.
  • Apply care planning and documentation to case studies
  • Understand the principles of defensive documentation guidelines to support care recipient’s wellbeing and mitigate risk management for team members and organisations.
  Target Audience: Existing Registered Nurses (RN) and Endorsed Enrolled Nurses (EEN) within aged care service settings, and newly graduated Registered Nurses who are new to the Aged Service sector, and RNs who may be placed within facilities, under Australian Government Skills Migration arrangements.
