Dana Lavenant is a qualified trainer who currently works with Sector Support & Development within Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) for the Workforce and Industry Development team.

The aim of the work undertaken by Dana is to support and offer development opportunities to the aged services sector located in South Australia. Her passion is in developing learning opportunities and facilitating conversations focused on values-based principles, which are individualised and challenge traditional thinking. The key goal of SSD work is to facilitate strength-based approaches to inspire better practices regarding quality issues with the workforce, while keeping the older person’s desire for living their best life and recovering from adversity at the forefront of the work.

Dana has experience in customer service management and the development and provision of community-based services for older people, people living with dementia and mental health issues and the natural relationships who care for them.

A lifelong learner Dana has filled a number of roles as a social scientist, health counsellor, student, mother, artist and adventurer.

Resilience practices are now more necessary than ever. How equipped are your frontline workers in identifying resilience and supporting people during times of challenges maximising people’s own capacity.

This session will enhance our skills to support older people and carers to develop their own wellbeing and resilience strategies. This taster will connect participants to a range of ideas and approaches to develop effective responses to hardships people face as they age.

  • Identifying resilience strategies as vital to overall health and wellbeing.
  • Understanding the benefits of strengths based approaches to enhance resilience and optimism

Target Group: CHSP support workers, volunteers, other aged care workers – highly beneficial for frontline workers and volunteers. For best results team leaders and manager should have undertaken the session to enhance team practices and strengthen cultural changes.
