Humans are a social species. Our wellbeing is interconnected with our relationships. Studies show that people who have diverse and robust relationships have better health outcomes than people who experience loneliness or isolation. Unfortunately a common service response is to fill a person’s life with formal relationships. These too may be essential, yet when informal connections are limited, challenges can emerge. This session investigates the idea of “right relationship”, from the teachings of Michael Kendrick. By identifying strategies to deal with relationship challenges, participants will be better prepared to manage  relationships in healthy ways.

Participants will gain a greater understanding of  the risks and consequences for everyone, when individual needs change or when people go beyond expectations and how to address this respectfully.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of right relationship
  • Identify the impact of the home as the workplace
  • Understand what constitutes professional behaviour
  • Clarify the difference between “friend” and “friendly”

Target Audience:  CHSP support workers, volunteers, other aged care workers

** Note:  That the scheduled time is in AEDT (Syndey, Melbourne, Hobart)

Participants will be sent the zoom link 1-2 days prior to the event
