Trainer Short Bio
A qualified trainer she works in developing learning opportunities focussed on values training, which is individualised and challenges traditional thinking. This includes a range of concepts and frameworks. The key goal of Dana’s work is to facilitate conversations to inspire better practices regarding quality issues, focusing on the older person’s desire for living their best life and recovering from adversity. Dana has experience in the development and provision of community based services for older people, people living with dementia and their families. She has worked in the Mental Health sector, focusing her work on carers supporting a family member living with mental health issues. A lifelong learner Dana has filled a number of roles as a social scientist, health counsellor, manager, mother, artist and adventurer.

Imagining possibilities with people who have been set back by losses or health events is more than following a care plan. This session will invite the participants to explore enabling & strength based approaches to enhance outcomes for older people. The interactive workshop will be thought provoking, reflective and practical. Be prepared to reveal your own strengths an seek strengths of fellow learners.

Outcomes from this training include;

  • Understanding what strengths are
  • Identify the negative impacts of deficit based approaches and low expectations
  • Understand what are strength based approaches
  • Strategies that can be used immediately

Attendees are encouraged to complete and bring with you the results of the strengths survey.
